Name of Foundation

The name of the foundation is Zuhra Educational foundation (ZEF).

Motto

The motto of the foundation is Reliability and Integrity. That all the activities, which will be carried out in the foundation, will be based on rectitude and sincerity, Insha Allah.

Aims and Objectives of the Foundation

Zuhra Educational Foundation is a charitable organization established with the mission of promoting and disseminating authentic Islamic knowledge and practice to individuals and communities. The Foundation seeks to nurture a generation grounded in sound religious values, intellectual excellence, and moral integrity.

This mission is pursued through the following key objectives:

1. Teaching and simplifying classical Islamic texts to ensure accessibility and comprehension among learners of all levels.
2. Translating essential Islamic books into multiple languages to enhance reach and inclusivity across diverse linguistic communities.
3. Nurturing the hearts and minds of future generations through spiritually enriching and morally sound Islamic education.
4. Empowering the youth with the skills and knowledge required to become educators and mentors for subsequent generations, ensuring the preservation and continuity of Islamic scholarship.
5. Establishing a comprehensive, well-structured educational institution that integrates Islamic studies with contemporary academic disciplines, thereby fostering holistic development and preparing students for both worldly success and spiritual growth.

Population of Students

At the heart of the Zuhra Educational Foundation’s activities is a vibrant Zaure School located at the foundation’s main center, currently serving over 350 students. In addition to this central hub, the foundation has successfully established 13 branches across various locations, each accommodating between 50 to 200 students, depending on local capacity.

To further expand its reach and impact, the foundation has launched ZEF Academy—a personalized, one-on-one online learning platform designed to cater to individual student needs. This initiative aims to make Islamic education more accessible, flexible, and tailored, especially for those who may be unable to attend physical classes due to distance, personal schedules, or other limitations.

Source of Income

Currently, there is not any reliable fixed source of income to support the foundation financially. The foundation is being funded by contributions from members and well-wishers.

Students Sponsorship

A significant number of the students are self-sponsored, while others receive support from their parents. Additionally, a small portion benefit from the generosity of kind-hearted philanthropists who willingly take on their sponsorship.

Achievements Recorded from Inception to Date

Since its establishment, the Zuhra Educational Foundation has made remarkable strides in promoting Islamic knowledge and moral development. The foundation has successfully instilled a deep love for Islamic education in the hearts of its students, such that wherever they find themselves—locally or abroad—they continue to seek and spread Islamic knowledge with unwavering commitment.

Several students of the foundation have reached advanced academic levels, including PhD holders and candidates, yet they remain actively engaged in Islamic learning both within and beyond the foundation’s schools. This reflects the lasting impact of the foundation’s teachings.

A growing number of married women and young ladies have embraced the pursuit of Islamic knowledge, as reflected in their increasing presence and participation in our schools. This trend is a testament to the inclusive and welcoming nature of the foundation’s educational approach.

The foundation has expanded its reach through the establishment of multiple branches within Zaria and beyond Kaduna State. Additionally, students of the foundation have become beacons of knowledge in their own communities, teaching and guiding others in Islamic education wherever they reside.

One of the most notable achievements is the foundation’s success in shaping students into morally upright individuals. The emphasis on Islamic manners and character development has produced students known for their discipline, responsibility, and seriousness in both religious and worldly affairs.

The atmosphere of mutual love, respect, and compassion cultivated within the foundation has extended beyond its walls, fostering lifelong relationships built on Islamic values and shared pursuit of knowledge.

Younger students who joined the foundation early have shown exceptional progress, often surpassing their senior counterparts in knowledge and understanding due to their early exposure, enthusiasm, and consistent dedication. This promising development reinforces our hope in raising a new generation of capable and committed scholars.

In response to the growing need for flexible learning, the foundation introduced ZEF Academy, an online platform offering one-on-one personalized classes. This initiative has been especially beneficial to postgraduate students abroad and busy professionals, allowing them to stay connected to Islamic learning through social media platforms and other digital means.

The foundation also offers special classes and certification programs tailored to students who wish to pursue specific fields of Islamic knowledge in depth. These classes are structured to build competence in various disciplines and provide formal recognition for the students’ achievements.

Many students have advanced significantly in core Islamic sciences, including:

• Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence): Reaching advanced texts such as Mukhtasar Khalil and Al-Hukkamiyya
• Hadith: Progressing through volumes of Sahih al-Bukhari
• Lugah (Arabic Vocabulary): Reaching classical texts like Daliyya ibn Nasir and Ibn Duraid
• Qur’an: Completing memorization, including various Qira’aat and Riwayaat
• Nahwu (Arabic Grammar): Studying advanced grammatical texts

Preparations are also underway to commence advanced teachings in other key areas, such as:

• Balagha (Rhetoric)
• Arud (Prosody)
• Usul al-Fiqh (Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence)
• Mustalah al-Hadith (Hadith Sciences) and more.

Furthermore, some of our students have begun producing scholarly works and research projects in Arabic, Hausa, and English, covering topics such as Inheritance, Prayer, Discipline, Menstruation, and translations of renowned classical texts including Al-Qawa’id, Al-Akhdari, Ashmawiyyah, Al-Qurtubi, Al-Izziyyah, Al-Risalah, and Al-Zuhd. These works aim to simplify complex concepts for future students and enhance the accessibility of Islamic knowledge.

In addition, several students have taken on the task of revising and editing key texts used in the foundation’s curriculum to ensure consistency, clarity, and better understanding.

However, despite their dedication, many of these students face challenges such as lack of access to computers, electronic devices, and publishing opportunities. These constraints threaten to dampen their enthusiasm and limit the dissemination of their works. Therefore, the establishment of a well-equipped printing press and provision of necessary technological resources is essential to sustain and empower the next generation of Islamic authors and scholars.

Limitations

Current Foundation Premises

There is a lack of adequate space that would accommodate all the proposed plans and activities efficiently and effectively.

Currently, the foundation does not have a permanent place but uses the street Masjid to observe its activities which standard building is needed to mitigate the obvious discomfort experienced.

The current situation has a negative effect, and negatively influences the comprehension, passion, zeal and dedication of the students, and also affects the comfort of the teacher(s), due to lack of space and privacy.

The Need for Intervention and Special Needs

The lack of assistance and intervention has profoundly hindered the actual and full implementation of the Zaure and Tsangaya educational plan. This has led to the lack of spurring excellence in the shortest time possible and exploring other interests concerning the acquisition of knowledge. These include:

1. Exploring new ways and techniques of teaching new students that would simplify their learning and boost their interest, passion and dedication to learning.
2. The inability to translate some books that need more explanation and clarification to some problems. Translating these books would lead to acquiring written and preserved knowledge which would not only be used by the student in need, but by generations yet to come.
3. The inability to completely overhaul some of the format, design and editions of some books used into a more modern and appealing texts that would be used by students.
4. The inability of the teachers to enhance their knowledge through research due to shortage and lack of books, modern facilities and devices, as well as going to other teachers and mentors for more insights and wisdom which would propel and enrich the foundation.
5. Untimely termination of learning by some teachers and students due to lack of funds for basic amenities.
6. The inability to start the proposed implementation of certification at the proposed stages of education.
7. The inability to find sponsors for both students and teachers through scholarship schemes and sponsorship. This has led to the loss of enthusiastic students and teachers that have passion to learn religious knowledge.

Goals in the Nearest Future

1. Complete overhaul and change of the ways of acquiring Islamic knowledge by reforming some of the ways and bringing others that are better within the principles and teachings of Islam, which will also be for generations to come regardless of age, sex or social class.
2. To Introduce steps/levels/stages in acquiring knowledge which would be used in screening and producing Islamic teachers with full grasp and understanding of Islam, and of high moral standing capable of being role models in the society. Teachers that know, understand and move with time as well as the contemporary generation. This would enable getting real scholars of Islamic knowledge with Western education.
3. Providing a good and safe way of getting our children to know, love and have passion for learning and understanding their religion, instilling within them good manners and behaviours right from childhood. This would be done in three stages:
   • The Holy Qur’an (Tsangaya method)
   • Learning of Islamic knowledge (Zaure method)
   • Western education.
4. Ameliorating the menace that sprouted from Almajiri education – which is the search for education – but now done using ways that are crude and un-Islamic.
5. Providing learned veterans and well-disciplined people that will bring prestige and excellence to which ever institution they are heading especially religious establishments.
6. Preserving Arabic language by making it the official language in our schools (Zaure) and where Qur’an is taught (Tsangaya), thereby making the students well acquainted with the language of Arabic in speech and writing.
7. Standardization of our online classes so as to reach our students wherever they find themselves at and even those interested in the way of knowledge.
8. Providing a system that will breed knowledgeable and dedicated parents who will have the zeal to learn, encourage and support their children and also serve as role models worthy of emulation by their children- a virtue we envisaged will be hopefully consistent for future generations.
9. Reclaiming the respect and the lost glory of Islamic knowledge and Muslim scholars and restoring Islamic knowledge as the yardstick of success in our societies.
10. Award of certificates at respective designated stages to indicate student’s proficiency as obtainable in conventional western system. This would be done hierarchically in two stages
    • Issuance of Certificate (Ijaza) on completion of the various stages
    • Award of titles to indicate the student’s contribution to knowledge in the respective fields.

Facilities Needed to Realise the Prospective Goals

1. Acquiring adequate land with approximate area that would be able to accommodate the desired structures.
2. Building a standard school that will incorporate both Zaure educational system, Tsangaya educational system and western education so as to provide the upcoming students with a conductive atmosphere to acquire good discipline and better knowledge for academic excellence.
3. Provision of standard printing press with electronic devices for publications and also equipped modern library with books for study and research, elaborative and comprehensive re-editing of some books as well as translating them to various local languages and subsequently foreign dialects.
4. Provision of foundation bus/car which will be used to carry out foundation activities easily.
5. Establishing dedicated scholars (teachers) that will be able to simultaneously teach diligently and continue their research. Provision should be made to cater for their basic human needs financially so as to provide ample time for them to effectively concentrate on their respective study and maximize their productivity.
6. Providing financial contingencies for solving unforeseen problems that may arise. This ranges from issues relating to the betterment of the foundation, teacher’s and student’s welfare. Also availing basic amenities for new converts into the religion with special attention that will effectively give them the best Islamic education and true moral values so that they can make positive impact among their people in the long run.
7. There will be need for efficient telecommunication facilities for recording and uploading foundation syllabus, background information, lectures, interactive questions and answer sessions with our scholars and other vital information that will present myriads of benefits on the internet that can be accessed by the general public thereby enhancing the system to blend with the contemporary world.
8. TV channel(s) is(are) also part of the foundation dreams in such a way that our upcoming children will occupy their time with something that they find peace of mind in as Islamic knowledge, its activities and discipline will be the primary assignment of the channel to broadcast.
9. Facilities for the blind and deaf to learn religious knowledge as normal individuals do without hindrance.
10. Learning of digital skills such as ICT proficiency, information.

Proposals and Bills of Quantity

ZEF School Proposal

The proposal presented in the below page is a school for Zuhra Education Foundation to be located in the heart of Zaria to serve humanity. The magnificent edifice is molded in a simple form with appealing features synchronized to evolve an architectural piece that will blend at the same time unique with its host environment. The building is lying in its own lovely garden filled with shady tress and well paved landscape for effective ventilation, circulation and enticing serenity.

It has a simple concept with main access at the frontage and corridors linking the classes and other school facilities. The model has a buildable floor area size of approximately 420square meters with 12 classrooms, six numbers both at ground and first floors to accommodate primary and secondary sections.

It also has large partitioned Zaure hall and Tsangaya for Islamic lessons at first floor and administrative offices strategically placed at the ground floor. The proposal is envisaged to subsequently incorporate other vital supporting facilities such as sport fields, computer laboratories, Masjid and science laboratories among others that will enhance the learning process of students as well as improve their productivity.

It is anticipated to be built on 1800-meter squared of land equivalent to approximately 4 plots of land.

ZEF Printing Press Proposal

The proposed printing press presented in the inner back page of the profile is of two-storey, consisting of the factory/workspace, conveniences, store and display shops all on the ground floor while that of the upper is having the editors office, the manager’s office and conveniences as well. The building is expected to be on an equivalent of 116 square-meter of land, which will enable all the related activities of documents production to be carried out all within the building without the need of anything else elsewhere.

Zuhra Educational Foundation is not a profit-seeking venture and is not sponsored by any individual or business. All the efforts of ZEF are realized through contributions from members of the organization, family and friends, colleagues, well-wishers, and other well-meaning individuals in society.

Zuhra Educational Foundation has two categories of projects–the long-term projects and the short-term projects.

The long-term projects include:

1. A plot of land, 1800 square meter to be specified which is equivalent to four (4) plots of land- estimated cost of about ₦40 million.
2. Construction of the foundation’s school premises- estimated cost of about N60 million Including furnishings.
3. Construction of the foundation’s printing press-estimated cost of about N30 million including equipment.

The short-term projects include:

1. Publishing the books written by the foundation
2. Provision of a bus/car for the foundation
3. Provision of electronic devices such as laptops, printers and others.

In order to realize the aforementioned projects, we are hereby soliciting your assistance in cash and kind, all efforts are valid no matter how little, and they will Insha Allah count as Sadaqatun-Jariya for whosoever contributes.

We humbly request from anyone capable to undertake it upon himself to help us with either buying the plot of land, constructing the whole or part of the building or generous donations through the foundation account with details below.
